Geraniums:
I like geraniums in my garden:
Pros: Slugs and snails don't like them and they're colourful and easy to take cuttings and grow more plants.
Cons: Over-wintering geraniums in pots - they are in take a lot of room.
My Mom told me that her friends puts her's in a paper bag and sprays once in a while and that's it.
I thought mine would surely die.
A few years ago - I dug up the extra geraniums - shook most of the soil and put them in a cardboard box - like a mother hen - I checked on them every couple of months. Oh no "I kill them" but I knew I had backups just incase I killed my experiments - I sprayed the inside of the box anyway and put the box away.
By March - they look pretty dead. Leaves were all brown some of the stems were soft but for the most part - the stems were firm and I wanted to see to the end of my experiment.
So I took them out of the box, removed dead leaves and soft stems and planted them.
In no time the stems started to root and within a month they looked healthier than the ones I left in the pots during.
The pros of keeping some of the geraniums in pots - I was able to take cuttings from the potted geraniums and grow more plants during the winter.
Have tried wintering anything geraniums using this method?
