Today I was cleaning my garden and I notice some of my Irises were missing.
The Rhizomes were still there, but leaves were rotten.
Dug them up and notice a hole - followed the hole - and yes - an ugly caterpillar.
Date spotted: July 23
Plant affected: Irises
Observation: Dead leaves and a hole in the rhizome
Approximate size/stage: about two inches fat caterpillar
Action I took: I cut right through the rhizome and caterpillar.
Cleaned the Rhizome and planted the clean rhizome back again.
Now I am going check my other Irises.
